Midday Stock Roundup

The S&P 500 was up 0.5% in midday trading to 2,691.93.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.5% to 24,840.64.

The Nasdaq tacked on 0.4% to 6,990.65.

The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond was flat at 2.49%

The price of gold climbed 0.1% to $1,270.

RETAIL

Boot Barn Holdings Inc. (NYSE: BOOT) stepped up 3% to $16.41, a fresh 52-week high and a $430 million market cap on light pre-holiday volume. The Irvine-based seller of western wear is now up to about 220 stores in the U.S.

HEALTHCARE

Presbia PLC (NASDAQ: LENS) was down another 15% to $3.70 and a $66 million market cap. The eye care device maker and developer replaced its chief executive, cut expenses, as it abandoned U.S. marketing efforts—pre-FDA approval–of its Flexivue Microlens. The Irvine based, Ireland chartered ophthalmic company disclosed in an SEC filing it is actively raising capital and has received a proposal by an affiliate of its largest shareholder to buy $5 million in preferred shares.
