Midday Stock Roundup

The S&P 500 was down 0.5% in midday trading to 2,426.62.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 0.3% to 21,353.36.

The NASDAQ was down 1.1% to 6,179.30.

The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond was up 3.6% to 2.21%.

The price of gold was up 0.1% to $1,248.

SERVICES

Acacia Research Corp. was up 6% to $4.40 and a $223 million market cap. Two of the patent licenser’s units, one near Dallas and one in Munich, entered into patent license agreements with China-based ZTE Corp., which resolved pending litigation.

RETAIL

Boot Barn Holdings Inc. (NYSE: BOOT) in Irvine was up 5.8% to $7.08 and a $189 million market cap on high volume. The company runs a chain of western wear stores.

TECHNOLOGY

Smith Micro Software Inc. (NASDAQ: SMSI) was up 18% to $1.53 and a $22 million market cap on very high volume. Shares in the mobile products software maker had by midday traded at twice its 90-day average.

HEALTHCARE

Endologix Inc. (NASDAQ: ELGX) in Irvine was up 3.4% to $5.20 and a $429 million market cap on above-average volume. The company makes and sells devices to treat abdominal aortic aneurysms.

ChromaDex Corp. (NASDAQ: CDXC) in Irvine was up 3.8% to $4.11 and a $189 million market cap on moderate volume. Shares in the nutritional ingredients maker are up about 14% this week.

NuGene International Inc. (OTC: NUGN) in Irvine was down 27% to 5 cents and a $2 million market cap. Shares in the skin care products maker are down by two-thirds over the last four trading sessions and 80% year-to-date.
