The S&P 500 was up 0.3% to 3,240.08 in midday trading.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.6% to 28,717.54.
Nasdaq was up 0.8% to 9,044.8.
Crude oil fell 0.1% to $61.64 a barrel.
The price of gold rose 0.2% to $1,518.
The yield on a 10-year bond fell 1.7% to 1.89%.
MANUFACTURING
Ducommun Incorporated (NYSE: DCO) plunged 12% to $44.74 a share with a $517 million market cap. Volume at Santa Ana-based Ducommun, an aerospace and defense manufacturer, was more than twice the daily average of 84,053.
HEALTHCARE
Irvine-based Endologix Inc. (Nasdaq: ELGX) rose 15% to $1.81 a share with a $32 million market cap. Shares of the medical device maker are still 80% below their 52-week high last January.
