Lido Marina Village Location for $2.1B Co.

Orange County shoppers need not trek to West Hollywood anymore to search for the latest in luxury consignment goods.
San Francisco-based online reseller The RealReal Inc. (Nasdaq: REAL), with a recent market cap of $2.1 billion, last week opened a 1,100-square-foot store at Lido Marina Village. The store is stocked with luxury labels in women’s, men’s, jewelry, watches, home goods and art, in addition to housing a consignment office to offer valuations for resellers.
“Stores boost our penetration in a market and drive supply, so brick and mortar is an important part of our strategic growth plan,” said Vice President of Retail Courtney Hawkins.
The executive also said the company plans to add as many as 10 stores over the course of the coming months to its current roster of seven retail locations. The RealReal has so far this year opened a store in Brooklyn and now Newport Beach.
The company, which launched in 2011 and went public in 2019, opened its first physical store in New York in 2017 and bookended the country with an outpost on Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood the following year.
Physical retail helps “bring our brand to life,” Hawkins said.
“One of our advantages going into any market is that we know what neighborhoods are central for our buyers and consignors,” she said. “Newport Beach is an ideal location because it’s convenient for our existing base, and it’s a prime shopping and dining destination with great foot traffic to help increase our exposure to the local community.”
