Kofax to Pay $34.7M for German Firm

Irvine-based software maker Kofax Ltd. agreed to pay $34.7 million in cash for Softpro GMBH, a German company that specializes in electronic signature services and software. It said it expects to complete the integration of Softpro by the end of the calendar year.

Kofax makes scanning software used by businesses to help streamline information flow and cut costs. It has about 295 employees here and was No. 7 on the latest Business Journal list of the largest software companies in OC by employee size. It had $10 million in profit on $266 million in revenue during its fiscal 2013 through June.

Softpro has about 80 employees and brought in $13 million in revenue in 2013.

Kofax said Softpro’s principal shareholders—founder and Chief Executive Heinz Reschke and Managing Director & Head of Sales Peter Reschke—will remain in their posts along with other employees.
