Kawasaki Motors Corp. U.S.A. said it will move its North American headquarters from Irvine to Foothill Ranch.
The distributor of ATVs, motorcycles and personal watercraft signed a 15-year lease on 200,000 square feet at 26972 Burbank and plans to move there next summer.
President and Chief Executive Masa Nakagawa said the company wants to keep its headquarters centrally located in OC while cultivating “a new environment that creates and exemplifies the Kawasaki brand and products, and we believe this new space will do just that.”
The new headquarters is next to the Foothill Ranch Towne Centre in Lake Forest, four miles from Kawasaki’s old building in Irvine. The center is also home to fast-fashion retailer Wet Seal LLC.
H. Hendy Architects in Newport Beach will handle the redesign of the building’s interior, including modifications to allow more natural light, second floor offices, and an expansive ground floor.
Kawasaki sold its old Spectrum-area building to Bixby Land Co. in Irvine for just under $44.3 million, or roughly $168 per square foot.
