Kaiser Permanente Names New COO

Kaiser Permanente, the largest HMO in Orange County, has appointed Phyllis Anderson, R.N., M.A., as chief operations officer for the group’s local operations.

Anderson succeeds Margie Harrier who in July was appointed senior vice president and area manager in the Harbor City South Bay service area that extends through Long Beach. Harrier has been with Kaiser for 14 years, where she served as the chief operations officer of different regional zones.

In her COO role, Anderson will oversee nearly 600,000 members in Orange County, as well as the day-to-day operations of its two area hospitals, in Anaheim and the Irvine Medical Center off of Sand Canyon in Irvine.

She has been with Kaiser since 1992.

“Phyllis brings a breadth and depth of experience in patient quality and safety, continuing care and nursing care that will support our high-performance goals and strategies,” said Mark Costa, Kaiser Permanente Orange County senior vice president and area manager. “Her strong leadership presence will further strengthen our Orange County leadership team.”

She is a Chapman University alumna with a master’s in organizational leadership and has attended Harvard University’s executive leadership program.
