Hyundai Enlists Influencers, Digital on Tucson Campaign

Marketers are opening up their wallets again with some big product pushes.

Hyundai Motor America Inc. went all-out on its latest campaign spanning social media and TV, enlisting a spectrum of influencers to help sell its 2022 Tucson vehicle after a relatively quiet 2020 for automotive marketing.

The Tucson campaign is named “Question Everything,” the idea being the automaker questioned everything in developing the redesigned CUV.

First off for the campaign is TV. The automaker has a 60-second spot, along with three 30-second spots in which a cast of actors, athletes and other high-profile names will appear, including Jason Bateman, Mindy Kaling, Becky G, Kawhi Leonard, Giada De Laurentiis and Nate Berkus.

Bateman is a familiar face for Hyundai. The actor was tapped in 2020 for the automaker’s popular “Smaht Pahk” Super Bowl ad.

The TV spot will air during the NBA Playoffs, PGA Championship, streaming services, network and cable TV. It’s also posted on Hyundai’s YouTube channel.

Elsewhere on social media, the automaker created a TikTok challenge using an original Hyundai sound and is also working with 15 Southern California influencers and creators on content tied to the 2022 Tucson.
