The Waterfront Beach Resort, a Hilton Hotel in Huntington Beach has put together a $140 million financing and land acquisition deal for its long-planned expansion.
Irvine-based Mayer Corp. received city planning commission approval for the expansion in March 2012, city records show.
The developer’s resort has 290 rooms and about 22,000 square feet of meeting space.
The expansion onto 3.5 acres of adjacent land is approved for 152 rooms and about 14,000 square feet of meeting space in a new, nine-story tower. City records also show approval of a one-level parking structure with 261 parking spaces.
A law firm working for the developer, Smiley Wang-Ekvall in Costa Mesa, said the project is scheduled to break ground this month. The project lender is Pacific Life Insurance Co. in Newport Beach.
