Cargigi Inc. in Irvine was acquired by eBay Inc. on undisclosed terms.
The San Jose-based online auction platform, which hosts about 800 million listings, said it plans to “leverage Cargigi’s technology to help onboard auto dealers’ inventory onto eBay.com.”
The company was founded in 2009 by Tony Hoang and has about 30 employees. In exchange for a monthly fee, it markets auto dealers’ used car inventory on popular free classified websites, including Craig’s List.
“Cargigi has evolved into a vertical support platform for major automotive classified websites globally,” Hoang said in a statement. “As an integral part of the eBay Motors vehicles business, Cargigi will bring greater value to its U.S. sellers and enhance the experience for eBay [customers].”
Hoang also founded CDMdata Inc., an automotive data collection and marketing company that Kelley Blue Book Co. in Irvine bought in 2004.
