6 OC Companies Added To Russell 3000 Index

Six Orange County-based businesses joined the Russell 3000 Index after a revision to its makeup last month.

The Russell 3000 Index measures the 3,000 largest publicly held companies in the U.S. It is among the best known of 130 indexes devised by asset manager FTSE Russell in Seattle, Wash. They are intended to measure investment performance by company size, industry or other criteria.

The six OC-based additions include Irvine-based companies Autobytel Inc., an e-commerce service for auto dealers; California First National Bancorp; First Foundation, which operates First Foundation Bank; and ChromaDex Inc., which provides ingredients to the supplement, food and beverage, and pharmaceutical industries.

The others are Lake Forest-based fast-food chain Del Taco Restaurants Inc. and Pacific Mercantile Bancorp in Costa Mesa.

Two local companies were dropped from the index as of June 30—Newport Beach-based Alliance HealthCare Services Inc., a provider of outsourced healthcare services to hospitals; and Peregrine Phar-maceuticals Inc. in Tustin, a biopharmaceutical company targeting cancer.
