ViewSonic Gets Second Intel Investment
ViewSonic Corp., a Walnut-based maker of computer monitors and other display products, received an undisclosed amount of funding from Intel Corp.’s venture capital arm late last month.
The investment is the second by Intel in ViewSonic, according to Jim Morlan, ViewSonic’s chief financial officer. Morlan declined to offer specifics on either investment other than to say the latest funding is a “substantial amount.”
ViewSonic plans to use the money for product development, Morlan said.
Intel and ViewSonic have a history. In 2000, the two companies both provided funding for Boulder, Colo.-based ColorLink Inc., a provider of color management films and filters for monitors.
Intel and ViewSonic also have worked together on a connection standard for digital flat-panel monitors.
ViewSonic, which em-ploys about 400 people at its headquarters just over the northern county line, counts annual sales of about $1.3 billion.
