640 Layoffs Hit Tustin Wine Distributor

Republic National Distributing, also known as Young’s Market Co., is closing local locations

Tustin-based Republic National Distributing Co. LLC, also known as Young’s Market Co., announced in a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification, or WARN, letter, that it is shutting down multiple locations, resulting in hundreds of jobs permanently cut.

Republic National will lay off 561 employees working at 14402 Franklin Ave. in Tustin. Another 79 employees will be let go from Republic National’s facility at 14352 Franklin Ave., also in Tustin.

The layoffs will begin on Sept. 2 and continue until Dec. 31, according to Republic National’s WARN letter, which was submitted to state officials on July 1.

Republic National also submitted a WARN letter for the closure of its facility at 6711 Bickmore Ave. in Chino, San Bernardino County. That closure will result in 238 layoffs.

Republic National Distributing Co. is one of the largest distributors of wines and spirits. The Grand Prairie, Texas-based company was founded in 1898 and now operates in 39 states and Washington, D.C.
