Integrated Microelectronics Inc., a contract electronics maker based in the Philippines, has bought the Tustin plant of Auburn Hills, Mich.-based Saturn Electronics and Engineering Inc.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Integrated bought Saturn’s electronics production and design facilities in Tustin and in Cebu, Philippines.
The Tustin facility now operates as IMI USA.
Integrated and Saturn make electronics under contract from other companies. Integrated makes circuit boards, plastic injection moldings, finished electronics and other products. Customers include computer, telecommunication, industrial and automotive companies.
Saturn serves automakers, appliance and communication companies.
IMI USA is set to design and make electronics in smaller quantities, including prototype work and product launches, according to Integrated.
The sale leaves Saturn to focus on its automotive business. The company’s remaining facilities are in Michigan and Mexico.
Integrated is part of Ayala Corp., a Filipino holding company with investments in various businesses.
