Ford Motor Co. said Monday that its top U.S. sales executive has resigned, ending a tumultuous six-month stint that culminated in a steep profit warning from the troubled auto giant. Ford announced after the bell that Earl Hesterberg, head of the company’s key North America sales group, has stepped down. Hesterberg had taken the reins from 40-year company veteran Jim O’Connor on Oct. 1.
