Sales of Anaheim Ducks jerseys and other merchandise have soared amid the hockey team’s bid for the Stanley Cup.
The Ducks sold an average of $15.38 in merchandise per person during the first two games of the Stanley Cup series in Anaheim, according to the National Hockey League.
The figure is 75% more than sales during last year’s Stanley Cup Final between the Carolina Hurricanes and Edmonton Oilers, and 82% higher than the 2004 Stanley Cup Final between the Tampa Bay Lightning and Calgary Flames.
“Our fans have proven all season that hockey is alive and well in Southern California and this is another example of that,” said Tim Ryan, chief operating officer of the Anaheim Ducks.
Merchandise sales at the Duck’s team store were up 236% during the regular season, according to the team.
The Ducks have a chance to win the Stanley Cup Wednesday against the Ottawa Senators at Honda Center. They lead the series 3-1.
