Huntington Beach-based Quiksilver Inc. could be near a deal to sell its DC Shoes brand to North Carolina’s VF Corp., according to a recent report from Women’s Wear Daily and Monday’s edition of the Business Journal.
Fashion trade publication Women’s Wear Daily reported Friday that VF is close to buying DC as Quiksilver looks to get out from under a crippling amount of debt.
VF already owns rival skateboard shoemaker Vans Inc. in Cypress. DC has yearly sales of about $475 million from shoes and clothes.
The potential move is mixed for Quiksilver: DC is its fast-growing brand, yet it needs to raise money to pay down $1 billion in long-term debt.
The speculation about Quiksilver selling DC is the subject of a Monday story in the print edition of the Business Journal.
