Rep. Cox Names Press Secretary

Rep. Christopher Cox, R-Newport Beach, announced the appointment of Fraser Zimmerman as press secretary, handling his media activities and producing his syndicated TV show, “Washington Report.”

Cox had not had a press secretary for three years; his media relations had been handled by Paul Wilkening, communications director for the House Policy Committee, which Cox chairs. Wilkening will remain in his role at the policy committee.

Zimmerman worked on healthcare, finance, immigration, education and judicial issues as a legislative assistant for Rep. Cox and on healthcare issues for Sen. George Voinovich, R-Ohio.

She’s also worked in marketing and communications for the beverage and packaging industries.

Zimmerman graduated in 1992 from Connecticut College with a degree in international relations and economics; last year, she received an MBA from the University of Maryland.

Cox also hired Rebecca Fryer, a native of Orange, to handle constituent inquiries and requests. Fryer graduated in 1999 with a degree in political science from Chapman University.
