Vita Reed has joined the Orange County Business Journal as the paper’s new healthcare reporter.
Reed, 35, will cover various aspects of the local healthcare industry, including managed care companies such as PacifiCare Health Systems Inc., local hospitals, doctors, medical technology, government and regulation.
Reed comes to the Business Journal after more than four years at the Las Vegas Business Press, a weekly business newspaper in Nevada. In Las Vegas, Reed covered healthcare as well as some law and media stories.
While at the Business Press, Reed won three awards from the 1998 Nevada Press Association competition.
Reed was born and raised in San Diego. She received a degree in print journalism from the University of Southern California in 1986. Her career stops include three years at the Knoxville News-Sentinel in Tennessee and a year at the Charlotte Observer in North Carolina.
