Deep Thoughts on Orange County
– With there still being so many SUVs in OC, have you noticed the newer ones are much lower and flatter? They need a new name. How about calling them station wagons?
– It had to happen first in OC. In a parking lot at Ralphs on 17th and Westcliff in Newport Beach, my wife and I sighted a Bentley SUV complete with a large ornate grille.
– At the same location it’s a daily occurrence to see an SUV the size of a house stopped in the intersection with the driver holding a cell phone in one hand and coffee in the other while making a left turn using an elbow. Onlookers are waiting to cheer the first ticket given here July 1 when “hands free” becomes law.
– Face transplants are now approved at the Brigham Hospital in Boston. Only a matter of time before the desperate housewives and husbands get them in Orange County.

Survey: 33
The percentage of Generation Y workers who said salary, healthcare and retirement benefits were their No. 1 career concern for the future. Reasons behind this choice included, “Having enough money to support the lifestyle I desire,” and “Getting paid enough to both save for retirement and enjoy the present.” Twenty-six percent of Gen Yers, typically 21- to 28-year-olds, said their biggest concern was job stability. They cited “being able to settle into the right job after graduation” and “that the economy won’t be sustained in order for jobs to be secure” as reasons for choosing that concern. Career satisfaction is the No. 3 concern at 23%, with reasons ranging from “finding something that I am truly passionate about” to “being happy with my job and balancing work and home life.” Meanwhile, 8% listed a reason of “other” as their top concern.
Survey overseen by Robert Half International. Includes a total of 1,007
