Hoag, CHOC Strike Deal for Children Care

Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian said late Monday that it is going to work with Children’s Hospital of Orange County to provide specialized services for children.

As a result, Hoag said it would no longer admit patients under age 16 to its Newport Beach facility, effective April 1.

A deal between CHOC and Hoag calls for all inpatient children care to be transferred to CHOC’s hospitals in Orange and Mission Viejo.

In a memo to employees, Hoag said that its neonatal intensive care unit will continue to serve newborn babies and wouldn’t be affected by the transfer.

Hoag also said that CHOC is going to open a sub-specialty pediatric clinic there that includes care for diabetes, asthma and neurology and that a pediatric urgent care facility would open for afterhours and weekend care for children.
