Aliso Viejo’s Quest Software Inc., a maker of business software, said Tuesday it bought a small maker of software that manages data storage networks.
Quest bought Redwood City-based MonoSphere Inc., which is privately held.
The company didn’t disclose terms of the deal.
What attracted Quest to MonoSphere was “the fit of its products within Quest’s management offerings,” among other things, the company said.
Quest said it hired a “substantial number” of MonoSphere’s workers, but didn’t say how many.
The company said it’s set to integrate MonoSphere’s software, called Storage Horizon, with a number of its existing products.
Quest, which makes software that boosts the performance of databases and other applications, has a habit of making lots of small acquisitions and quickly olding them into its various product groups.
Most recently, the company bought Phoenix-based NetPro Computing Inc. for $78 million in cash back in September.
