Printronix Warns on Sales

Irvine printer maker Printronix Inc. warned Thursday that sales for the quarter ending Sept. 23 could come in 5% to 10% below the year-ago period.

A slowdown in orders that started in the prior quarter has continued, Printronix said. The company makes industrial printers, including for radio frequency identification tags, or high-tech bar codes.

Sales for the current quarter could come in at about $30 million, versus $32 million a year ago, the company said.

Printronix blamed the decline on slower sales into Europe’s automotive market. The company said it expects sales to improve sequentially in the next two quarters on par with year-ago levels.
