Irvine-based Printronix Inc. warned Wednesday that it might post a loss in the June quarter because of a slowdown in orders.
Printronix makes high-speed industrial printers. The company said it was seeing slower orders from Asian and European customers.
“If these trends continue, revenue for the first fiscal quarter of 2006 could be as much as 5% below revenue of $32.7 million reported in the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2005,” the company said in a press release.
It also said it could report a loss in the period, which ends June 24.
The company had been posting sales gains in the past few quarters, in part on the strength of its printers that use radio frequency identification tags popular with retailers such as Wal-Mart.
Printronix said Wednesday that IBM Corp. signed a pact to use Printronix’s radio frequency identification tagging technology in its line matrix and thermal bar code printers.
Shares of Printronix fell 8% to $15.8.
