Arts Orange County named Richard Stein executive director. Stein previously spent 17 years as the executive director of the Laguna Playhouse. Stein has been chairman of the John Wayne Airport Arts Commission and president of the Alliance for the Arts of Laguna Beach.
Mission San Juan Capistrano hired Christine Shook as museum assistant. She will work with the mission’s museum conservator to inventory and store artifacts, create exhibits and participate in special projects. Shook is pursuing a mas-
ter’s degree at Cal State Fullerton.
CONSTRUCTION
Shea Kirshner was named president and chief executive at Kirshner & Schmidt Inc. in Tustin. Donald Schmidt became vice president and chief operating officer. Kirshner has worked as vice president of business development at various Southern California builders and developers. Schmidt previously was senior project manager at MasterCraft Homes Group in Newport Beach.

Audra Jones was named associate director for the Center for Leadership and Team Development at the Paul Merage School of Business at the University of California, Irvine. She previously was senior director of partnership and development for the United Nations Foundation and vice president of Latin American investment products and distribution for Citibank, part of Citigroup Inc.
Perin Mahler was named chair of the master of fine arts in painting program at the Laguna College of Art & Design in Laguna Beach. Mahler received his master’s in painting from City University in New York and has taught for the past 12 years at the University of Cincin-nati, Kendall College of Art and Design and Grand Valley State University in Michigan.
Raman Unnikrishnan was named to the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology’s Engineering Accreditation Commission. Unnikrishnan is dean of the Col-lege of Engineering and Computer Science at California State University, Fullerton.
GOVERNMENT
The city of Irvine hired Chandra Krout as environmental programs administrator. Krout most recently worked at CTG Energetics as a green building and planning specialist. She specializes in community sustainability analysis and executing green building portfolios.
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger named Simon Semaan of Orange to the Private Security Disciplinary Review Committee. Semaan is chief executive and cofounder of Costa Mesa-based Pacwest Security Services. Semaan also owned Event Control Team Security until 2007.

Jeremy Glenn joined the sales engineering team at Providea Inc. in San Clemente. Glenn most recently worked as a sales engineer at Tandberg ASA. He has other experience in the videoconferencing industry at SBC Com-munications Inc., now AT & T; Inc., and Peirce-Phelps Inc.

Nina Smith was named chair of the Fifth annual Orange County Go Red For Women luncheon. Smith is president of the business management division of Sage Software Inc. in Irvine. The event is put on by the American Heart Association’s Orange County Chapter.
Sam Balooch was promoted from director of IT to chief information officer at the Mind Research Institute in Santa Ana. Ingrid Ellerbe will oversee marketing as director of corporate communications. Fran Antenore was named director of the institute’s new math initiative community partnership and grant program. Linda Catanzaro became director of the professional development department.
REAL ESTATE
Michael Riley was promoted from director of development to vice president of finance at Irvine-based R.D. Olson Development in Irvine. Riley will help evaluate the economic feasibility of proposed development projects and negotiate management agreements with hotels.
Barbara-Leigh Tonelli joined the Newport Beach office of NAI Capital Inc. as vice president. She most recently worked at Sperry Van Ness and specializes in retail shopping centers. She also spent five years at Charles Dunn Co. as a senior adviser and marketing specialist.
Hom Real Estate Group Inc. in Newport Beach added Duane Burns as an agent. He specializes in exclusive luxury residential real estate listings and equestrian estates in North Orange County. Before joining the real estate industry, Burns owned and managed a sales and marketing company for 12 years. He also has worked as vice president of sales for the industrial division of Rockwell International.
First American Title Insurance Co., part of Santa Ana-based First American Corp., promoted Merri J. Altadonna, Katie Jaime and Marcus Vallejos to senior vice presidents and strategic account directors for the company’s lenders advantage division. They will be responsible for expanding existing partnerships with national lenders and help new lender clients.
