BANKING

Daniel Walker was appointed chairman of Long Beach-based Farmers & Merchants Bank.

RSM EquiCo, a global investment baking firm, named Margaret A. Thurmond chief financial officer. Along with managing accounting, Thurmond will oversee human resources, information technology and facilities.

Rancho Santa Margarita-based South County Bank named Jim Graham, owner of Santa Margarita Ford and president of The Bell Tower Foundation, to its board.

Deborah Powers was appointed indirect and dealer direct lending manager for Orange County Credit Union.

First Republic Bank named Sherri Grady managing director. Grady will serve First Republic’s Orange County clients out of the bank’s Newport Beach office.

Kurt Ross joined the Irvine office of California Bank & Trust as vice president and branch manager.

EDUCATION

St. Catherine’s Military School in Anaheim named Lt. Cmdr. Lawrence Lundin to the position of commandant of cadets for the 2003-2004 school year.

FINANCE

Grant Thorton, an accounting, tax and business advisory firm, named Stephen Masterson as new practice leader of business risk services for the firm’s Western region.

Santa Ana-based Safeco Financial Institution Solutions, part of Seattle’s Safeco Corp., appointed Kelly J. Riley to oversee its entire operations area and Mark Schmitt as chief information officer.

HEALTHCARE

Costa Mesa’s Prescription Solutions, part of Cypress-based PacifiCare Health Systems Inc., appointed Angelo Giambrone as vice president of industry relations. Giambrone will oversee contracts with drug makers for the pharmacy operator for PacifiCare members.
