John C. Eastman was promoted to dean of Chapman law school. He spent the past 10 months as interim associate dean for administration in the law school. Eastman joined Chapman University’s law school in 1999 and specializes in constitutional law, legal history and property.
The Orange County Small Business Development Center hired Linda Harasin and Mark E. McCallick. Harasin has 16 years of experience in the small business community. She consulted for the Entrepreneur Training Institute program from 1996 to 2000. McCallick is a certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor with 20 years of small business experience.
ENGINEERING
Anaheim-based Willdan Group Inc. named David L. Hunt president and chief executive of its engineering services subsidiary, Willdan. Hunt was senior vice president and OC regional office manager for Willdan since 2002 and joined the company in 1985 as a senior engineer.
FURNITURE
Fullmer Office in Santa Ana hired Vanessa Doyle as account manager. Doyle has eight years of account and project management experience.
GOVERNMENT
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger appointed Manuel J. Ramirez to the California State Board of Accountancy. Ramirez is a founding member and is president and chief executive of Ramirez International Financial & Accounting Services in Irvine. He was the last elected president and first chairman of the board for the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of OC.
HEALTHCARE
Mission Hospital Foundation added 10 local community members to its board. The foundation raises funds for Mission Hospital. The following were named: Gill Barnett, Jim Brakke, Thomas Brockington, Jim Graham, Ed Jordan, Todd Lempert, Tony Mingo, Cynthia Mirsky, Kimberley Chen Nobles and Maureen Sullivan.
INSURANCE
Brea-based Veterinary Pet Insurance Co. named Carol McConnell interim veterinary medical director. McConnell previously was Veterinary Pet’s director of veterinary education and services and has worked with the company since 2004. Previously, she worked for Alza Pharmaceuticals and spent three years as a veterinarian.
LAW
Hutan Hashemi was hired as an associate at the Irvine office of Bryan Cave LLP. Hashemi will practice in the firm’s banking, business and public finance and real estate groups. Previously, Hashemi was an entitlement project manager for a major merchant builder in Southern California.
NONPROFIT
The OC Council on Aging in Santa Ana appointed Cheryl Meronk as chief executive. Meronk has worked as the agency’s Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy program manager since 2002. She also sits on the California Health Advocates board.
REAL ESTATE
Jennifer Cook was named marketing manager for Newport Beach-based Fieldstone Communities Inc. and two subsidiaries, Fieldstone Homes Southern California-Northern Counties Inc. and Southern Counties Inc. Before joining Fieldstone, Cook was a communications manager at the Aliso Viejo office of Lennar Corp. She is a member of the OC chapter of the Building Industry Association of Southern California.
HBI Construction in Newport Beach hired Paul J. King Jr. as business development manager. King will be responsible for marketing, sales and customer service and focus on Southern California, Arizona and Nevada regions.
Orange County Housing Trust’s board elected Peter R. Villegas as chairman. Villegas is first vice president and national manager of external affairs for Washington Mutual Inc. and manages all national partnerships for the company. He is past president of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of OC.

D. Dean McCormick III was named chair of the audit committee for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange. He is a member of Insight Consulting Partners LLC in Irvine. He is president of McCormick Consulting Inc. and has more than 25 years of experience.

High Tower Software Inc. in Aliso Viejo named Cleve Adams president and chief executive. Adams most recently was president and chief executive of PureSight Inc. He also has worked as vice president of sales and marketing at Websense Inc.
