The median price of an Orange County home reached a new record high in June, topping out at $645,000, but lagging sales continued here for another month.
The median price of a home here increased $10,000, or 1.5%, from May to June, according to La Jolla-based DataQuick Information Systems, a unit of Canada’s MacDonald Dettwiler and Associates.
Prices here now stand $2,500 above the median of a year ago, which was the previous high seen in the county.
Sales in the county continued to show little signs of a pickup. There were 2,641 OC homes sold in June. That’s down 1.4% from May, and 32% below year-ago sales figures.
Orange County’s sales slowdown mirrored the rest of the Southland, which saw its slowest sales pace in 14 years, according to DataQuick figures, which go back to 1988. There were 20,166 homes sold in Southern California in June, down 36% from a year ago.
The median price for a Southland home was $502,000 in June, a 0.6% decrease from May, but up 2.4% from a year earlier.
Sales in Riverside County were down 47% year-over-year, while San Bernardino sales were down 50%.
