The holding company of Lake Forest-based general contractor ARB Inc. has hired construction industry veteran Bert Sandman as president and chief operating officer.

Sandman is set to work with Brian Pratt, chief executive of ARB parent Primoris Corp., on day-to-day operations of the business. Along with ARB, Primoris also owns ARB Structures Inc., a builder of parking structures, and Onquest Inc., which works on gas, chemical and other projects.

Before, Sandman was president and chief operating officer at Sacramento-based contractor A. Teichert & Son, where he oversaw freeway work, among other things.

“The desire to move to Orange County was an incentive to accept the new position,” said Sandman, a fifth-generation Northern Californian.

He and his wife visited Orange County and she fell in love with the place, Sandman said, leaving him to find a job here.

Sandman said he’s adjusting to his new company, which does more industrial work than A. Teichert. Some of ARB’s current projects include underground sewer lines in Huntington Beach. Clients include the Orange County Sanitation District, Southern California Gas Co., the Port of Los Angeles and Kinder Morgan Energy Partners LP.

Sandman holds a bachelor’s of science in agricultural business management from University of California, Davis. He lives with his wife in Newport Coast and has four grown children.
