EDUCATION
Tarbut V’Torah Jewish Day school in Irvine named Rabbi Steven Ballaban head of school. Ballaban is the first to be named head of school at Tarbut V’ Torah. He is set to oversee growth of the grade school and high school programs.
FINANCE
Irvine-based Haskell & White LLP, an accounting, auditing and tax consulting firm, added Robert Greene to its audit and business advisory services team as information technology audit practice leader.
HEALTHCARE
Santa Ana-based SmileCare Family Dentistry appointed Eric Pellkofer to the newly created position of director of orthodontic operations.
Symphony Medical Inc. named Raymond W. Cohen chief executive. Cohen, 47, most recently was chief executive of Cardiac Science Inc., a maker of heart defibrillators. Cardiac Science was based in Irvine before moving to Bothell, Wash., after being bought by Quinton Cardiology Systems Inc. last year. Symphony was founded in 2003 to develop treatments for irregular heartbeats and other disorders.
INSURANCE
Veterinary Pet Insurance Co., a pet health insurer in Brea, created a seven-member veterinary advisory board. Its members are Gene A. Foehl, Tom R. Kendall, Alan R. Klag, Sheldon B. Rubin, Margaret J. Rucker, Joni M. Samuels and Jim F. Wilson. Veterinary Pet Insurance also named David W. Reinhard vice president of underwriting and medical director.
LAW
Craig Barbarosh was one of 12 members elected to the board of Pillsbury, Winthrop, Shaw, Pittman LLP. Barbarosh is a partner in the Costa Mesa office.
Nossaman, Guthner, Knox & Elliot elected Mary Lynn Coffee as partner at its Irvine office. Previously, she was vice president, regulatory affairs, at The Irvine Company.

Costa Mesa’s Pacific Communications, a healthcare marketing agency, appointed Nanette Johnson to account group supervisor.

Laura Khouri, senior vice president and executive committee member of Irvine-based Western National Group, was elected to serve on the board of Laura’s House, which provides shelter, counseling and legal services to those in need. Khouri is responsible for administration and operations for the San Juan Capistrano nonprofit.

La Jolla Pacific Ltd., an Irvine-based construction quality and risk-management company, promoted Dan Reeve to vice president of development and Leslie Thomas to vice president of sales.
