ACCOUNTING

White, Nelson & Co. hired Scott R. Jones as director of practice development in Irvine. Scott will be responsible for directing and coordinating marketing efforts for the firm. He is board chair for Mission Hospital Foundation and a board member for Aliso Viejo Little League. The firm also promoted Amir Patel, Josh Maguinness and Ken Teramura to supervisor, and Hasiba Barati, Krystle Castro, Robert Gunderson, Candice Lightfoot, Will Shaw and Bobby Ward to senior associates.

The California Society of Certified Public Accountants Orange County/Long Beach chapter named Brian Rush president for 2009 to 2010. Rush, who previously served as vice president of CalCPA, is internal audit manager for Cobham Analytic Solutions in Lake Forest.


EMPLOYMENT

AlphaStaff Group Inc. hired Steve Oakley as vice president of sales for California. He is based in Huntington Beach and will be responsible for leading a new sales force. Oakley previously was a senior vice president and general manager at Ultimate Software Inc.


FINANCE

Newport Beach’s Pacific Investment Management Co. promoted Richard M. Weil, the bond fund manager’s chief operating officer, to global head of Pimco Advisory. Douglas Hodge, Pimco’s head of Asia Pacific, will succeed Weil as chief operating officer. Both Weil and Hodge are managing directors and members of Pimco’s executive committee.

Irvine-based Bridgewater Capital Corp. promoted Scott Kimball to partner. Prior, he was managing director of the investment bank. Kimball previously worked as managing director at Bear Stearns Cos. and Deutsche Bank AG.


HEALTHCARE

Jennifer Shimabukuro joined Access OC in Irvine as program director. The group works to provide medical treatment to the uninsured and poor. She will work with patients, doctors and hospitals. Shimabukuro previously worked for the Children and Families Commission of Orange County as director of finance.


LAW

Ryan Stottlemyer joined the Irvine offices of San Diego-based Luce, Forward, Hamilton & Scripps LLP. Stottlemyer will work in the real estate and environment litigation practice group and specialize in loans for distressed real estate. He previously was an associate at the Irvine office of Cox, Castle & Nicholson LLP.

Costa Mesa-based Rutan & Tucker LLP hired Lester Anderson in its intellectual property section. Lester is a recent graduate of the University of San Diego School of Law. His practice is focused on patent litigation.

Mark Smalls joined Irvine-based Jams Inc. as vice president and chief marketing officer of the legal mediation company. Smalls previously worked at nonprofit Opportunity International as senior vice president of marketing. He has also held senior marketing positions at Unilever, PepsiCo Inc. and Citigroup Inc.


NONPROFIT

Teresa Smith was appointed executive director of Catholic Charities of Orange County. She has served as interim director since January. Smith is a board member of the Orange Elderly Services and previously worked as planning commissioner for the city of Orange.

Families Forward added three board members: Suzanne Maddalon, Allen Goh and Dana Kovach. Maddalon is the owner of Maddalon Marketing in Mission Viejo and was the Southern California Building Industry Assocation’s Marketing Director of the Year in 2006. Allen Goh is an accountant at the Newport Beach offices of Squar, Milner, Peterson, Miranda & Williamson LLP. Kovach is the owner of Kovach Marketing in Irvine.

Children’s Bureau added Barbara Eidson and Kelly Crean to its Orange County division board and inducted Yolanda De la Paz as chairperson. Eidson is community relations manager at The Island Hotel in Newport Beach. Crean, an actress and philanthropist, is the granddaughter of Donna Crean, founder of the Orange County division board of the Children’s Bureau and widow of entrepreneur John Crean. De la Paz is senior vice president of First Regional Bancorp in Anaheim.


RETAIL

Kristine Viray joined Huntington Beach-based Beauty Encounter Inc. as marketing coordinator. She previously worked at Designory Inc. as an assistant to the managing director. Viray will be responsible for managing the online cosmetics retailer’s monthly features as well as social media efforts on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.


TRANSPORTATION

Langham Logistics Inc. hired Jason Murrieta as global business development manager for California and neighboring states. Murrieta will be based in Yorba Linda and will assist in Langham’s efforts to expand in the western U.S. He previously worked as an industrial engineer for United Parcel Service Inc.


TRAVEL

Travel Leaders Corporate hired John Brehm as vice president of sales and business development in its Irvine offices. Brehm will lead the company’s national sales force, including development of new business opportunities and coordination of clientele support. He previously worked at American Express Global Corporate Services as regional vice president of global sales.
