Bickmeier to Head Up Ducks’ Outreach
Erin Bickmeier has been named community development manager of the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim.
Bickmeier will help organize player appearances, autograph sessions and fund-raisers for the Mighty Ducks charity “Mighty Duck Care.” Among the charity events she’s expected to oversee is “Dux in Tux,” which raises money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Bickmeier said her goal is to raise awareness of the Mighty Ducks, whose popularity has waned in recent years.
Before joining the Ducks, Bickmeier spent two years as communications manager for the Tiger Woods Foundation, where she was responsible for the communications, public relations and the development of marketing materials.
She has also worked for the Worcester IceCats, a minor league hockey team in Worcester, Mass., and for the FleetCenter, home of the Boston Bruins.
In 1995, Bickmeier received her bachelor’s in visual and environmental studies from Harvard University and went on to get her master’s in sports management from the University of Massachusetts in 1999.
While attending Harvard from 1992 to 1995, Bickmeier said she was goalie for the school’s women’s hockey team. Bickmeier also was a member of the U.S. Women’s National Hockey Team Program from 1991 to 1996.
Originally from Boston, Bickmeier now lives with her husband, an employee of California Speedway, in Anaheim Hills.
