KPMG LLP in Costa Mesa hired Chris Ray as a partner and James Belles as managing director. Ray will serve as the lead engagement partner on his various clients, which are focused in the government, higher education and not-for-profit industries. Belles is in the firm’s economic and valuation services practice and will lead valuation projects for financial and tax reporting purposes.
BANKING
Wells Fargo & Co. promoted Trevor Durham to manager of its Newport Beach Mariners location. Durham has held the positions of business specialist, manager and, most recently, a learning and development consultant.
EDUCATION
The Mihaylo College of Business and Economics at California State University, Fullerton, named John Jackson director of the Center for Entrepreneurship. Jackson has taught courses at Cal State Fullerton and also owns a small business consulting firm.
FINANCE
Strategic Equity Group promoted Lloyd Gilbert from vice president to managing director. Gilbert will work out of the Santa Ana and Los Angeles offices. Prior, Gilbert was vice president at Koffler & Co., an investment bank in Los Angeles.
GOVERNMENT
Robert Osborne has been named Aliso Viejo’s chief of police services. Osborne currently serves as an administrative lieutenant at the James A. Musick Facility near Irvine and Lake Forest. He oversees facility issues, including staffing, facility maintenance and employee performance evaluations.
Mike Gavin was named Mission Viejo’s chief of police. Prior, he was watch commander at the Central Men’s Jail Complex in Santa Ana.
INSURANCE
Evon Rios joined Tustin-based Yates & Associates Insurance Services Inc. as a professional liability broker and underwriter. She will be responsible for leading the professional liability underwriting team.
LAW
The Irvine office of Bryan Cave LLP hired Nathan Hicks as an associate. Hicks will practice with the firm’s labor and employment and commercial litigation groups. His practice includes wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment and violation of privacy rights.
The Irvine office of Buchalter Nemer promoted Jason Goldstein to senior counsel in the litigation practice group.
Steven Nichols, a partner at Costa Mesa-based Rutan & Tucker LLP, has been elected to the firm’s executive committee. Nichols is co-chair of the firm’s construction law group. He specializes in construction and business law and litigation.
MANUFACTURING
Curtiss-Wright Flow Control Co. in Brea promoted Jim Leachman to senior vice president and general manager of its nuclear group. Leachman previously was vice president and general manager of the commercial power and services division. Curtiss-Wright designs and manufactures products for the commercial nuclear power industry, oil and gas processing facilities and military programs.
Irvine-based Toshiba America Business Solutions Inc. named Masahiro Yamada chairman and chief executive. Yamada will be responsible for the overall management of the company. He has been with the company for 24 years and most recently was deputy general manager for the document systems business group at Toshiba TEC Corp. in Japan.
NONPROFIT
Hallie Godshall joined Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County as its school-based match support specialist. She will monitor and support the agency’s mentor-child matches at Remington Elementary in Santa Ana, San Juan Elementary in San Juan Capistrano and Bernice Ayer Middle School in San Clemente.
Ocean Institute in Dana Point named Alyson Wenzel-Rosaler director of sales and marketing. She will manage a staff of seven to promote the Ocean Institute’s ocean science and maritime history programs.
John Collins joined the local board of Children’s Bureau, which works to prevent child abuse and treat its victims. Collins serves on the Fountain Valley City Council and has served as mayor five times.
REAL ESTATE
Jeffrey Sharpe joined the Newport Beach office of CB Richard Ellis Group Inc. as senior vice president. Sharpe has experience in lease negotiations, renewals, relocations and building acquisitions and dispositions.
