The Y & R; Cos. has appointed Cindy Thomsen senior vice president, direct marketing practice leader, for its Irvine Wunderman office. Thomsen joined the firm from Deutsch Inc. last year as freelance planner. She will oversee planning, data management and print productions.
Mike Hall has joined Irvine-based the T & O; Group as vice president, creative director. Hall joins the agency from Y & R; Cos., Irvine, where he worked on several major accounts. He previously worked at Foote, Cone & Belding Southern California, Irvine, and Vitro-Robertson in San Diego.
Los Angeles-based Zim-mer Gunsul Frasca Partnership has promoted Huntington Beach resident Ted Hyman to partner. Hyman has more than 23 years industry experience and has worked on the Irvine Civic Center and the Center Tower at the Orange County Performing Arts Center.
Additionally, the group promoted Lisa Padilla to principal. Padilla has worked on projects for the Orange County Transportation Authority and University of California, Irvine.
Carla Hickey has joined Tustin-based First Fidelity Investment and Loan as vice president of business banking for the Orange County region. Hickey has more than 20 years experience in commercial banking. She previously worked at U.S. Bank.
Jon R. Muir has joined the investment management and trust services division of Commercial Capital Bancorp Inc. subsidiary Commercial Capital Bank, Irvine. Muir recently served as senior trust officer for Mellon Private Asset Management in Newport Beach.
Lalo Jimenez has been named project superintendent at Irvine-based Pepper Construction. Ji-menez previously served as project superintendent for TG Construction, El Segundo, and has more than 15 years of construction industry experience.
Additionally, Pepper Con-struction hired James Hawley as project manager. Hawley has more than 14 years construction experience in public works and contract administration.
Lake Forest resident Valerie Blackholly has joined Irvine-based Invisible Accountant as sales manager. Blackholly will be responsible for qualifying clients and directing implementation of new projects.
Iceland-based medical device company Ossur HF has appointed Gary F. Wertz president of Ossur North America, Aliso Viejo. Wertz has more than 20 years healthcare management experience and worked as the company’s vice president of worldwide marketing and sales.
Anja Kammesheidt has been named vice president of product development at Costa Mesa-based Ambry Genetics Corp. Kammesheidt has experience in biomedical research and gene discovery. She will develop new tests and products.
Tustin-based RIC Insurance General Agency Inc. has promoted Teresa Spraggins to underwriting manager. Spraggins began working at the company 15 years ago. Her new responsibilities include overseeing the underwriting and new business departments.
Carol Schroeder has been elected president of the board of directors for Irvine-based Families Forward Inc. Schroeder is vice president of community affairs for The Irvine Company, and was executive director of the Irvine Chamber of Commerce. She also is past president and a board member of Concordia University, Irvine.
Planned Parenthood of Orange and San Bernardino Counties has hired Cheryl A. Smith as health education department director. Smith will oversee a department that operates education programs for teens and young adults. She previously directed the National Council on Alcoholism’s Orange County Employee Assistance program.
New York-based Hill and Knowlton Inc. has appointed Ron Hartwig chairman of California operations and U.S. corporate practice director. Hartwig, an executive vice president of the firm will work from the group’s Los Angeles office and oversee its California locations, including Irvine.
The Los Angeles Times has named Mirian Pawel assistant managing editor for state and local news. Pawel will manage the California (formerly Metro) section and coordinate regional reporting on Southern California trends and issues.
Gil Foerster has joined Newport Beach-based Strada Properties. Foerster established Waterfront Homes in 1974, which he sold to Coldwell Banker in 1996. He has also worked as a senior executive at J. Walter Thompson Co. and The Bowes Co.
Santa Ana-based Passco Real Estate Enterprises Inc. has appointed Sharon Wilhelm director of investor services. Wilhelm’s duties include NASD registrations and tax processing for the group’s investor services commission.
Additionally, Passco has hired Michael Brent Falling. Falling will be responsible for commercial real estate asset management, and strategic planning/implementation for the group’s retail properties.
