PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP named James Kolar as office managing partner in Irvine, starting in July.

Kolar previously headed Price-waterhouseCoopers’ Los Angeles office. He replaces Dean Yoost, managing partner of the Irvine office for the past three

years.

Yoost plans to retire in July, including from the accounting firm’s 19-member Global Oversight Board.

Kolar, 43, began his career in the firm’s Baltimore office 20 years ago. He moved to Minneapolis and later Los Angeles, where he made partner in 1998.

He will continue as the financial services tax partner focusing on investment management clients. He plans to strengthen the firm’s alternative investment practice, Kolar said.

Pricewaterhouse-Coopers has about 275 Orange County employees.

Kolar sits on the boards of Home and School Association for St. Jeanne de Lestonnac School, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Court Appointed Special Advocates for Orange County and the California Society of CPAs.

A native of St. Paul, Minn., Kolar is married with three children. He lives in Tustin Ranch with wife Michele and family.
