ACCOUNTING

Glenn H. Carniello, a 10-year industry veteran, was promoted to partner at Singer Lewak Greenbaum & Goldstein LLP, Santa Ana. In addition, Michael D. Cohen was appointed partner and will direct the firm’s business valuation and litigation services. He works out of the firm’s Santa Ana and Los Angeles offices.


ADVERTISING

Theresa E. Cavanaugh joined Andersen Jones Partners, San Juan Capistrano, as account supervisor. She was most recently account supervisor for Forsythe Marcelli & Johnson and previously spent eight years as marketing manager for Toshiba America Medical Systems.

RiechesBaird Advertising, Marketing and Public Relations, Irvine, named Robert Lorum director of Internet marketing. He will oversee the firm’s creative team and third-party web development clients. Lorum was previously web project director and director of marketing and advertising for Firstsource.com, a Santa Ana-based e-business site. In addition, Julia Ludwig joined RiechesBaird as account representative. She will work on accounts that include Portobello, the Association for Corporate Growth and the United Way for Orange County. Ludwig was formerly account coordinator for Alcone Marketing Group. RiechesBaird also hired Dane Larsen as copywriter. Larsen has four years of experience in copywriting and most recently held that position for Foote, Cone & Belding Advertising where he worked on the Taco Bell account. Larsen is a graduate of California Polytechnic University at Pomona.

Denelle Collazo was hired as a business coordinator for Willis Advertising, Laguna Hills. She is responsible for lead generation, telemarketing and the agency’s direct mail program.

The Sturgess Co., a Newport Beach-based marketing, advertising and public relations firm, appointed Heather Craig account coordinator. Her responsibilities include creative production services for the company’s Orange County-based customers. Craig was formerly employed by Catellus Residential Group and Kip Klayton Architects.

SCDRG Advertising Inc., Irvine, hired Kelly Anderson as production manager. He most recently worked for Database Marketing Inc. as account coordinator, project manager, and customer support representative.

E.L. Gary Frederickson was named associate studio manager for Lawrence, Mayo & Ponder, Newport Beach. He will implement strategic designs for social marketing and lifestyle clients.

Frederickson was previously a designer for JNCO Jeans U.S.A., Los Angeles. In addition, Simone Beaudoin was appointed associate creative director. She will lead the creative teams on social marketing and healthcare clients. Beaudoin joined the firm five years ago as an art director.


ARCHITECTURE

Faye E. Miller was appointed associate of The Collaborative West, San Clemente. She joined the firm in 1995 and has worked on projects ranging from high-end residential model homes to large-scale masterplanned communities. Miller is a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects.

Nestor + Gaffney Architecture LLP, Santa Ana Heights, named Michael D. Gould principal of the firm. He was previously with McLarand, Vasquez & Partners Inc. Gould has worked on such projects as the Metropolitan Transportation Headquarters Towers in Los Angeles and the Howard Hughes Center.

Anastacio Martinez was named director of operations for JBZ Architecture and Planning, Newport Beach. He previously worked for other Orange County residential architecture firms and had his own firm for several years.

Scott K. Kime joined Danielian Associates, Irvine, as director of production. He was formerly principal for Mulvanny Architects, Irvine, and also headed his own firm, S K and Co., Aliso Viejo. Kime is on the board of the Irvine Chamber of Commerce.

Alexandra Spencer was appointed public relations officer for three global architecture and engineering firms: Holmes & Narver Inc.; Daniel, Mann, Johnson & Mendenhall; and the McClier Corp. She is based in Holmes & Narver Inc.’s Orange office.

Bassenian/Lagoni Architects, Newport Beach, promoted three senior staff members to the newly created position of associate vice president. Michael Beam and Ken Niemerski oversee the production department; Steven Dewan is in the design department.

Kaufman Meeks + Partners, Newport Beach, hired Michael J. Fowler as project architect. He was most recently team leader and project manager for the residential division of Mulvanny Architects Inc., Irvine.

Art Tyree was appointed project manager for Urban Arena Landscape Architecture & Planning, Newport Beach. He is a 25-year veteran of the landscape industry, and was previously a landscape planner for Santa Barbara County, where he worked in landscape maintenance and the development of water-conserving public gardens.


BANKING AND FINANCE

Golden West Financial Services, Costa Mesa, appointed Wendy Reid to the newly created position of major account service manager. She was previously fleet manager for the company’s auto leasing division.

Burt R. Shurly III was named senior vice president of Comerica Bank-California, Costa Mesa. He will act as the credit administration officer for Southern California. Shurly was most recently alternate credit administration officer for the firm’s Long Beach, Westwood, Industry and Ontario offices.

Lynn Caswell, chairman and CEO of Pacific Community Banking Group, Laguna Hills, was re-elected to the board of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, a position he has held since 1996.

Pacific Investment Management Co., Newport Beach, the fixed-income subsidiary of Pimco Advisors Holdings LP, promoted Mohamed A. El-Erian, Pasi M. Hamalainen, Brent L. Holden, John S. Loftus, and Ernest L. Schmider to managing directors.

Beverly A. Fisher was named assistant vice president and retail manager for Eldorado Bank’s San Juan Capistrano branch office. She was most recently branch manager for a local credit union.

Cypress Financial Services Inc., Cypress, appointed John Hindman CEO and elected him to its board. Prior to joining the company in 1998, he was vice president of finance for West Capital Financial Services Corp.

Scott Clark and Tom Johansen joined USA Capital LLC, Newport Beach. Clark was named senior vice president, national sales and marketing. He is CEO and owner of Industrial Alliance Inc., a USA franchise partner in San Diego. Johansen was appointed regional sales manager, Western region. In addition, the company promoted Larry Scarpone to vice president and regional manager, Western region, and Bill Cramer to regional sales manager and vice president.

Edison Capital, Irvine, elected Larry C. Mount senior vice president and general counsel. He joined the company in 1995 as senior counsel. Prior to joining Edison Capital, Mount was a partner at McDermott & Trayner.

First American Financial Corp., Santa Ana, promoted Jo Etta Bandy to vice president of corporate communications. She was most recently director of communications for the company.

David W. Stein was appointed to the newly created position of vice president and senior relationship manager for First American Trust, Newport Beach. A veteran of more than 26 years in the trust, estate planning and financial services industry, Stein is responsible for the development of new business throughout Orange County and the management of the company’s existing trust accounts.


CONSTRUCTION

Pepper Construction Company Pacific, Irvine, promoted 11-year veteran Mark A. Thruman from vice president and general manager to president. Pepper Pacific and Pepper Construction Co. are subsidiaries of The Pepper Companies Inc., a holding company with headquarters in Chicago.

Kathy Windsor was named director of business development for Friess Co. Builders Inc., San Juan Capistrano. She oversees the sales and marketing team as well as all mergers and acquisitions. Windsor has 15 years of experience in property management and real estate services.


EDUCATION

Jeffrey Prinster was appointed regional dean of National University. He is based at the La Jolla campus and is responsible for all regional operations in the 25 academic centers throughout California. Prinster joined National University in 1982 as an adjunct professor and was most recently Southern region dean.

Frederic Yui-Ming Wan, UC Irvine vice chancellor for research and dean of graduate studies, was named a foreign member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences. He is a professor of mathematics internationally known for research on differential equations. The academy is comprised primarily of Russian scholars and includes 100 foreign members.


HEALTHCARE

Lynnbrooke, an assisted living community in Irvine, appointed several people to its management team. Tammy S. Crandell will lead the team as executive director. She will be responsible for the total operation of the community. Kelly McMaster was hired as sales and marketing director. She previously worked as a psychiatric outreach director. In addition, William Banks Sr. was named food service director and Stephen Lopez was appointed program director. Banks was formerly food service director for the city of Inglewood. Lopez was most recently the special care program director for ARV Assisted Living’s Albuquerque community.

Christy L. Beaudin joined PacifiCare Behavioral Health as director of quality improvement. Her previous experience includes management positions with other behavioral healthcare organizations.

The Sports Club/Irvine promoted Shelly Wieb from sports manager to desks manager. In addition, Kym Michels joined the club as corporate membership director and Jeff Peters was appointed sports manager.

InSight Health Services Corp., Newport Beach, appointed W. Robert Dahl to its board of directors. He is managing director of The Carlyle Group and oversees the company’s investments in the healthcare industry. InSight provides diagnostic imaging and information, treatment and related management services.


RETAIL

Greg Doxakis joined E-Zone Networks Inc. as Southwest sales manager. He is based in the firm’s Newport Beach office. Doxakis was previously Southwest business manager for Reebok CCS Fitness.
