Accounting

KPMG, Costa Mesa, named Dean Samsvick managing partner in charge of the firm’s Orange County assurance practice. Samsvick replaces Doug Ammerman, who will now focus on KPMG’s national personal financial planning practice. Samsvick previously headed the firm’s Orange County technology practice.


Advertising

Jane Wells was named director of print and traffic services at Lawrence, Mayo & Ponder in Newport Beach. In her new position, Wells will oversee the agency’s production department as well as supervise all print for the firm’s client roster.


Architecture

Robert Payan and Bradford McNamee were promoted to vice presidents at Wimberly, Allison, Tong & Goo in Newport Beach. Payan has been with the firm since 1988; McNamee joined WAT & G; in 1987.


Banking/Finance

Sunwest Bank, Tustin, hired Michelle Shapiro and Jan Eisenbeisz as assistant vice presidents and branch sales managers. Shapiro will be responsible for managing the bank’s Orange office, while Eisenbeisz will oversee the Newport Beach office.

Hugh A. Moran was appointed to the board of directors at Pacific Liberty Bank in Huntington Beach. Moran has been an accountant for 19 years and operates his own practice in Huntington Beach.

Biomedical

Bobby D. Spaid was named vice president and chief information officer for Beckman Coulter, Fullerton. In the newly created position, Spaid will be responsible for the company’s direction for information technology including implementation of a technology infrastructure at Beckman.

Construction

Andrew L. Youngquist Construction, Costa Mesa, promoted Edward G. Segovia to vice president of operations. Segovia, who will assume the administrative duties of the firm, was previously with Birtcher Construction Services. In addition, Rick Crouser joined the company as senior estimator for the residential division. Crouser most recently served as a senior estimator/project manager for Saylor Consulting Group.


Hospitality

Priscilla A. Selman has joined Creative Cuisine Catering in Orange. Selman will be responsible for business development in the social and corporate catering markets in Orange County.


Human Resources

Arlene Key was appointed executive account manager for Orange County by Commercial Programming Systems Inc., a technical recruiting firm. She will be responsible for business development in the county.


Law

Jones, Day, Reavis, & Pogue added Lester J. Savit to the Irvine office in an effort to expand the firm’s intellectual property practice in Orange County. Savit was formerly with the firm’s Chicago office.


Marketing

Tara Harrison has been named national sales manager for PRA Destination Management’s Orange County office. Based in San Diego, Harrison was previously senior sales manager for Hornblower Cruises and Events.

The Identity Group, Tustin, hired Lucinda Borges as account coordinator. Borges, a resident of Fullerton, is a communications major at Cal State Fullerton.

The Precept Group, Newport Beach, an employee benefits and human resources consulting firm, named Jen Hall vice president of client management and Sylvia Alfaro as client service director.

Johanna Purmort was appointed vice president, account director for the Orange County office of Cabo Knowledge Marketing. Purmort has worked with clients such as Sega, Foster Farms, Burger King, Procter and Gamble, Kraft, General Foods, Hunt-Wesson and Walt Disney Co.


Nonprofits

The Orange County Red Cross named its 2000-01 Board of Directors. The executive officers are: board chair, Richard Statuto, St. Joseph Health System; vice chair of revenue generation, Tom Gunkel, retired senior vice president of research, engineering and operations at Rockwell International; vice chair of finance, Ralph Scott, Scott, Bankhead & Co.; vice chair of human relations, Robert Wenzel, partner in Atkinson, Andelson, Loya, Ruud and Romo; vice chair of community relations, Frank Wilson, of Frank Wilson & Associates; legal counsel, Stephen Cooke, partner in Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker LLP; and secretary, Jo Ellen Allen, Southern California Edison.

Jim Palmer was appointed to the Juvenile Justice Coordinating Council/ Juvenile Crime Enforcement Coalition and was elected as chairman of the Orange County Housing and Community Development Commission for the Orange County Rescue Mission, Tustin.

Kristen Salvato Helsel was appointed program officer for the Fieldstone Foundation in Newport Beach. The Fieldstone Foundation is a charitable affiliate of Fieldstone Communities Inc., a real estate development company.
