ACCOUNTING

KPMG LLP appointed Mark Clemens as a Securities and Exchange Commission reviewing partner for its Orange County office in Costa Mesa. Clemens joined KPMG in 1990 and was admitted as a partner in 2000.

BANKING

Mission Viejo resident Curt Carson was named managing director for all the Southern California private bank operations of Union Bank of California, part of San Francisco-based UnionBanCal Corp. Carson will work out of Irvine.

CONSTRUCTION

McCarthy Building Cos., which is based out of St. Louis, promoted Joshua S. Ross to preconstruction director in its Newport Beach office. Ross previously was senior estimator at the company.

CONSULTING

Irvine-based provider of environmental consulting services Chambers Group Inc. made two new hires: Ted St. John joined as restoration group manager; and Ken Forman came on board as senior biological projects manager.

EDUCATION

Mario Rodriguez, founder and chief executive of San Clemente-based promotions and advertising company Jonathan Grey & Associates, accepted the invitation to become a member of the President’s Advisory Council at Concordia University in Irvine. Rodriguez also currently serves as vice chairman of the California Republican Party.

FINANCE

Santa Ana-based First American Corp. promoted Paul W. Knutson to vice president. Knutson, who joined the company in 1988 as a staff auditor for its First American Title Insurance Co. subsidiary, most recently served as controller.

HEALTHCARE

Irvine-based SK & A; Information Services Inc., a provider of healthcare lists and databases, made two promotions at its New York office: Bill Woods was named account manager, reseller division; and Anthony Ferraro was made customer service supervisor.

MANUFACTURING

Balboa Instruments Inc., a Tustin maker of electronic spa and pool control systems, appointed Robert Spillar as vice president of marketing. Spillar brings more than two decades of experience in the technology manufacturing industry to Balboa Instruments.

REAL ESTATE

Professional Community Management, a Lake Forest-based provider of community management services to homeowner associations, promoted Michelle Burge to chief financial officer. Burge has more than 20 years of community management experience and headed the accounting department of the company since joining it in 1996.

InHouseLender.com, a direct mortgage lender based out of Santa Ana appointed Jonathan Campos to the position of relationship manager. Campos brings more than 10 years of experience in account management and sales to the company, which is a division of Affiliated Funding Corp., also of Santa Ana.

Mammoth Equities Capital Group of Mission Viejo appointed Jared Christensen to the newly created position of investment program coordinator. Prior to joining Mammoth Equities, Christensen worked at Omni Brokerage Inc. in Salt Lake City as a marketing representative/due diligence analyst.

Darius Fatakia was appointed to the position of director of development for the Orange division of Atlanta-based Beazer Homes USA Inc. Fatakia previously served as the company’s development manager for more than a year.

Encino-based Marcus & Millichap Real Estate Investment Brokerage Co. named Jonathan Mitchell a senior investment associate at its Newport Beach office. Mitchell joined the company in 1997 and specializes in apartment investments.

Aliso Viejo-based The Merit Cos., which is comprised of Merit Property Management Inc., Merit Association Services Inc. and Community Technologies Inc., hired Judy Reule as area manager for its Sacramento region.
