Taylor architectural and design firm in Newport Beach promoted Evan Obaseki to principal.

BANKING

Orange County-based Sunwest Bank hired Alan M. Ghole as vice president and senior credit administrator in its Tustin office.

Indiana-based Irwin Union Bank FSB named Anna C. Ruiz vice president, commercial lender for the Southern California market working out of Costa Mesa.

Bank of America Corp. added Amy Leong Avelar to its trust team in Newport Beach as vice president and senior trust officer.

CONSULTING

The Planning Center, a consulting company that specializes in community planning and design, environmental studies and educational facilities planning, hired Keith McCann as chief operating officer and chief financial officer.

EDUCATION

Chapman University’s School of Music appointed conductor and pianist Daniel A. Wachs as director of orchestral activities. He also will act as the principal conductor of the Chapman University Orchestra.

Jodie Wales, principal of Lexington Junior High School in Cypress, was appointed to Scholastic Book Fair’s new principal advisory board. Wales will serve a two-year term on the board of the group, which organizes book fair events.

EMPLOYMENT

Lake Forest-based Accurate Background Inc., a provider of employment screening services, added Aaron Charbonnet as vice president of sales and marketing.

FINANCE

Jeanne Malmo joined RoseRyan as director of business development for the finance and accounting firm’s Irvine office.

Brookstreet Securities Corp., an independent brokerage, added two members: Frank Garcia to its Brea office and Durelle Brown in Irvine.

HEALTHCARE

Santa Ana-based SmileCare Family Dentistry appointed Eric Pellkofer to the new position of director of orthopedic operations.

HOTELS

St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort & Spa added Stephane Treand as executive pastry chef and Sheri Karpinski as director of catering and conference services.

INSURANCE

Sonja M. Bartmas was hired at Los Angeles-based insurance brokerage Heritage General Agency as senior underwriter/broker in the Irvine office.

LAW

Philadelphia-based Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP added three labor and employment lawyers to its Irvine office. Anne Brafford joined from the firm’s Los Angeles office as a labor and employment partner. Barbara Miller and Jesse Randolph joined as labor and employment lawyers.

John Simonis and Doug Schaaf were appointed chairs of the Costa Mesa office of Paul, Hastings, Janofsky and Walker LLP. Simonis is a partner in the real estate group. Schaaf is a partner in the tax department.

The Costa Mesa office of Manatt, Phelps & Phillips LLP added Amir Kahana, who focuses on litigation and counseling, with an emphasis on the financial services industry.

MANUFACTURING

Joseph P. Bellino joined Foothill Ranch-based Kaiser Aluminum Corp. as executive vice president and chief financial officer.

MARKETING

Irvine-based Morgan Marketing and Public Relations LLC promoted Heather Tien to assistant account executive. She previously was an account coordinator.

Idea Hall, a marketing agency in Costa Mesa, hired Nicole Broussard as an account executive.

NONPROFIT

Orange Elderly Services Inc., which provides works with the city of Orange to provide services for the elderly, elected the following to the Orange Senior Center board: Teresa “Tita” Smith, councilwoman, Orange; Bonnie Hagan, interim director of community services, Orange; and Pat Buttress, public affairs consultant, city of Orange.

Microsoft Corp. executive Don Webb was appointed to serve on the advisory board of the Boys & Girls Clubs OC Alliance, a nonprofit dedicated to inspiring kids to make a positive impact on the community.

Dana Point’s Ocean Institute appointed Lara Silowska as its Adopt-a-Class manager. She will build financial support for the Adopt-a-Class program, which gives poor children free visits to the Ocean Institute.

Jeane B. Sleeper, chief executive of Laguna Beach-based JBS & Associates, an association management and event production company, was named a trustee of the Aquarium of the Pacific Long Beach.

REAL ESTATE

Indymac Bank, a savings and loan and mortgage lender, promoted Bill Rothman to chief lending officer, senior vice president of Indymac’s homebuilder division in Irvine.

Irvine-based mortgage company New Century Financial Corp. hired Anthony T. Meola as executive vice president, loan production.

Curtis M. Slocum was appointed to senior vice president of the commercial investment division of Irvine-based Sares-Regis Group, a developer and manager of commercial and residential real estate.

Trammel Crow Co. promoted Jeffrey Cole and Rick Putnam to executive vice presidents for the Southern California region. Both work in the Irvine office.

Samuel E. Haynes joined Newport Beach-based CT Realty Group as vice president of acquisitions.

Irvine-based Standard Pacific Corp. hired the following at its Seal Beach office: Elaine Lawrence as accounts payable coordinator; Dave Curcillo as a senior sales counselor; Charles Ikai as a quality assurance manager; Dennis Nagel as assistant superintendent on the Tempo Project in Playa Vista; and Jesse Espinosa as a construction assistant on the Lake & Walnut project in Pasadena.

Studley Inc., a commercial real estate services company, added Nicholas Shaeffer to its Irvine office as assistant director.

Newport Beach-based Saywitz Co. added Michael Kerr as senior real estate consultant. Brandon Beeson, Matt Slezak, Ryan Ghahyasi and Jason Walton joined as associates.

Donald E. Wood joined Newport Beach-based Koll Co. as development manager for office and industrial properties.

Veteran restaurateur Don Myers was named president of Taps Fish House & Brewery in Brea and the Catch in Anaheim.

SERVICES

American Mold Guard Inc. in San Juan Capistrano, a provider of mold prevention services to homebuilders, named Paul Bowman chief financial officer.

SPORTS

Anaheim Arena Management LLC, the management company for the Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim, promoted Angela Wergechik to vice president of finance. She has been the director of finance for the past eight years.

The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim named Doug Heller vice president of finance for both the hockey team and Anaheim Ice, the team’s practice rink.
