OC INSIDER: Times May Ax OC Editor Slot; Mossimo’s Comeback

The “bureauization” of the Times OC continues. OC Editor Lennie LaGuire is being reassigned to a job in Los Angeles with no plans to replace her in OC, the Insider hears. LaGuire said she wasn’t ready to comment
So much for OC-raised Mossimo Giannulli’s comeuppance. One year after he struck a deal with discounter Target to satisfy creditors, the Mossimo brand has taken in $700 million,impressive, even if all Giannulli’s collecting is a $15 million royalty. “He’s being hailed as a designer who figured out how to turn his brand recognition into big volume, and as a keystone in Target’s very successful strategy of offering exclusive fashion brands that seem to defy low-end status,” says Garment & Citizen editor Jerry Sullivan
What do Kevin Sutherland and Ian Leggatt have in common? Both won PGA tournaments last month (Sutherland at the Match Play Championship at La Costa, Leggatt at the Tucson Open) and both had played the week before in the annual Assistance League of Tustin’s charity golf Pro-Am at Tustin Ranch Golf Club. “Oh, we definitely think playing at Tustin Ranch had something to do with their wins,” said Tustin Ranch’s Steve Plummer, unable to resist the promotional opportunity
