OC Congressional Members Stick to Guns on Revised Bailout

Revisions to the financial bailout plan did little to sway Orange County’s congressional members, who held their votes from Monday’s first pass at the plan.

The delegation split 3-3 on Friday’s approval of the revised bailout.

Loretta Sanchez, the delegation’s only Democrat, kept her “no” vote from Monday. Sanchez represents parts of Santa Ana, Garden Grove and Anaheim.

Republicans Dana Rohrabacher, who represents parts of West County, and Ed Royce, whose district covers parts of North County, also held their “no” votes from Monday.

Three backers of the original plan voted for the revisied version on Friday:

,John Campbell, a Republican representing Irvine, parts of Newport Beach and South County.

,Ken Calvert, representing parts of South County.

,Gary Miller, who represents northern, eastern and southern parts of the county.

The House of Representatives passed the revised bailout plan 263-171, with big gains on Wall Street beforehand on expectations of approval.

On Monday, the House voted down the initial version 228-205, sending stocks sharply lower.
