Ensign Group Inc., a Mission Viejo-based nursing home company, said Wednesday that it has bought a nursing home campus and a separate hospice in Texas and three nursing homes in Utah.
Ensign said it bought Golden Acres, a facility made up of a 264-bed nursing home and 39 independent senior living units, as well as a hospice, in Dallas.
A purchase price wasn’t disclosed. Ensign said it paid cash for the Texas facility.
Ensign also said it bought three nursing homes in Salt Lake City, Provo and Price, Utah, with a total of 396 beds among them.
Ensign also didn’t disclose a price for that deal.
Chief Executive Christopher Christensen said in a statement that Ensign is entering a new market through its deal for the hospice, which has been renamed Custom Care Hospice.
Christensen said that it would provide a way to grow into “an important service area for many of our patients and their families.”
With the deal, Ensign now has 73 facilities in California and six other states.
