Foran Glennon Palandech & Ponzi PC, a newly formed, Chicago-based law firm, has opened its first branch office in Laguna Hills.
The firm specializes in civil litigation, commercial insurance and professional and products liability matters.
“We’re already consulting with clients on World Trade Center issues,” said Matthew Ponzi, who splits his time between OC and Chicago, as does partner Thomas Orlando.
The firm set up shop here because it is handling litigation in Orange County Superior Court stemming from the 1994 Northridge earthquake. Foran Glennon represents insurers against the county of Los Angeles, which oversees L.A.’s Superior Court system.
“One of the buildings at issue in the case is actually an L.A. Superior Court building, those kinds of cases have to be kicked to other county jurisdictions and this one landed in Orange County,” Ponzi said.
Partners Ponzi and Orlando, as well as Michael Foran, James Glennon and Douglas Palandech, left Chicago-based Clausen Miller PC to start the new firm. Louis Milicich, another partner, hails from Chicago’s Jenner & Block LLC.
Joining the partners are four former Clausen Miller associates: Bryan McBurney in OC; and George Ferreti, Robert Boylan and Brian Parsons in Chicago.
