Sally Frame Kasaks has held the chief executive post a little less than a month, but she’s already putting her touch on Anaheim-based Pacific Sunwear of California Inc.
The company said on Monday it was eliminating its chief operating officer position, held by Wendy Burden, as part of its restructuring efforts. Burden said she is leaving the company to pursue other interests.
The mall retailer, which runs the PacSun surfwear chain and hip-hop clothing seller demo, has been working on a turnaround. It recently shuttered 74 underperforming demo stores.
Kasaks plans to take over Burden’s duties and also oversee information services, real estate and construction.
Chief Financial Officer Gerald Chaney is set to oversee the company’s distribution center and the global logistics and trade compliance departments.
“Our objective is to improve the operating efficiencies of the Pacific Sunwear organization,” Kasaks said in a statement. “I believe these organizational changes will result in improved alignment of the company’s operations by flattening the structure and creating greater accountability at the senior management level.”
Kasaks was named permanent chief executive in May after serving as the company’s interim chief.
