NetScope Hires People, Nabs More Work, Now Moving

Irvine-based NetScope Inc. is getting ready to move to bigger offices after hiring more people and bringing in business.

The shop, which handles online marketing and Web site work, plans to double its size and move from its 2,300-square-foot space to an office also in Irvine that’s more than 6,500 square feet.

NetScope has 26 people, up from 15 in 2002.

Sales are up 35%, driven by new accounts and a division NetScope recently started that’s focused on search engine marketing, which has helped it nab more business with current clients, the shop said.

Client Shea Homes expanded its search engine marketing work with NetScope and recently launched an e-mail marketing program to market their home developments.

NetScope also landed a client: Manors Construction and Development. The shop just launched a site, www.livetuscanyvillas.com, for is Beaumont townhomes.

“Mini Mitt” Buzz

Costa Mesa-based Innovate Media Group, which does online marketing, Web ads and more, is getting a lot of buzz for work it recently completed for presidential candidate Mitt Romney and his campaign team.

John Cecil, principal at the shop, said Romney’s campaign team recently contacted Innovate Media and used the shop’s “iAd” technology, which lets it create a thumb-sized version of Romney that walks and talks on his Web site. Romney is the former Massachusetts governor and Republication candidate for the 2008 presidential nomination.

Cecil said there’s “been all kinds of press and a major push in the blogosphere on our product.”

Fox News dubbed it “mini Mitt,” he said.

“All of this has been justification for this video product that we brought to market about eight months ago,” he said. “There are so many online marketing applications for it, not just presidential campaigns.”

The shop just moved to bigger offices and “is rapidly growing,” Cecil said. The move comes on the heels of Innovate Media getting a new name and expanding its services.

MKM on Boardfest

Huntington Beach-based MKM, which handles event marketing, public relations and more, is bringing on sponsors and coordinating the fourth annual Boardfest ’07.

The all-girl event, which includes music, fashion shows, dance performers and yoga clinics, is slated for Sept. 1 to 3 at the Huntington Beach pier. There will also be surfing, skateboarding and snowboarding competitions.

MKM said it brought on three new sponsors. Jeep is sponsoring the “snow zone,” where more than 40 tons of fresh snow will fall daily, and Aquafina, which is sponsoring water, will have a kiosk and misting tent and give away samples. Skechers is hosting the concert stage and entertainment center.

Boardfest, which launched three years ago, draws more than 100,000 people who want to check out the events, which are mainly free.

MKM also deals with U.S. and international press.

Other sponsors include Mountain High and KTLA/CW Television Network, which is owned by Tribune Co.

KTLA’s morning news show is expected to broadcast live from Boardfest on Labor Day.

Speaking of MKM, the shop just picked up USA Water Polo Inc. in Huntington Beach as a client.

MKM’s first project will be to handle public relations and marketing for the FINA Men’s World Junior Water Polo Championships, which are slated for August in Los Alamitos.

The OC shop is also going to help build awareness for USA Water Polo, a nonprofit and national governing body for water polo in the U.S., and the sport.

The campaign also pushes other features of the LED signs, such as having less disposable packing material, no mercury and the same brightness as other signs, Blank said.

Irvine-based Specialized Marketing Services has a new creative director.

The OC marketing shop said Jeffrey Love has taken the spot. He most recently was creative director for Maritz Interactions, a sales and marketing company.
