The Cypress-based Mobile Computing Division of Mitsubishi Electronics America Inc. is reportedly closing in a move expected to cost about 10 jobs.
A Mitsubishi spokeswoman said the company has not announced any closings or restructuring that would warrant such a move, but two people close to the company corroborated the rumors.
An employee who confirmed the closure said it wasn’t clear whether the move was part of a larger restructuring or whether workers would be transferred to other departments within Mitsubishi Electronics, which employs more than 220 in OC, according to the Business Journal foreign-owned companies list.
The Cypress operation supports sales, marketing and customer service operations for the division, which sells a variety of laptop, handheld and pen-based computers.
