Mindspeed Technologies Inc. said Monday it posted an operating profit in the quarter ended June 30.
But shares slumped after the announcement when the company said it expected to slip back to a loss in the current quarter.
The Newport Beach-based networking chip maker recorded an unadjusted operating profit of $73,000 in the June quarter, versus a loss of $7.9 million a year ago.
Mindspeed said quarterly revenue rose 29% to $35.9 million compared to last year.
But the company expects revenue in the current period to fall 5% to 10% from the June quarter. It expects its unadjusted operating loss to be about $3.1 million in the current quarter.
Shares of Mindspeed were off about 11% in afterhours trading.
