Irvine-based Masimo Corp. and Japan’s Nihon Kohden Corp., which has its U.S. arm in Irvine, said Friday they’ve signed a deal that allows Nihon Kohden to use Masimo’s signal extraction technology in its bedside and patient monitoring devices.
Masimo makes monitors based on its method of acquiring, processing and reporting a patient’s oxygen level and pulse rate.
The company’s best known for its pulse oximeters, which cut down on false alarms and other misreadings caused by patient motion or low blood flow, according to the company.
Masimo licenses its technology to more than 35 companies.
Irvine-based Nihon Kohden America’s products are used for patient monitoring, sleep assessment as well as in neurology and cardiology.
