Sangrias: $7

Cold weather got you down? How about a Latin cocktail to spice things up? Habana Restaurant & Bar at The Lab in Costa Mesa serves a potent sangria that’s sure to warm you up. The drink is an updated version of the classic wine punch that hails from Spain. It’s made with red wine, real fruit, brandy, soda and other ingredients that give it a little zing. General manager Jerry Aschoff is mum about Habana’s recipe but said the sangria boasts five liquors, which can only mean one thing: drink with caution. Despite its potency, Habana’s sangria is not overwhelming. The robust flavors from the red wine and brandy are complimented with a hint of citrus and vanilla. Pair it with one of Habana’s traditional mean Cuban dishes. For a lighter taste, try Habana’s white sangria. It’s a refreshing twist made with white wine, citrus, apples and pears.
