Anaheim White House restaurant owner Bruno Serato became the eighth honoree on the Anaheim Walk of Stars. Serato’s restaurant is an Anaheim landmark, serving Italian and French cuisine. He’s also started a nonprofit to feed underprivileged children.
Several lawyers at the Irvine office of Knobbe Martens Olson & Bear LLP were named Super Lawyer Rising Stars by California Super Lawyers magazine. They include: Amy Christensen Chun, Sabing Lee, Salima Merani, Lori Yamato, Ted Cannon and Joseph Cianfrani.
Four lawyers from Crowell & Moring LLP’s Irvine office also were named Super Lawyer Rising Stars: Dan Sasse, Van Nguyen, Jonathan Lindsay and Todd Lesko.
RiechesBaird in Irvine took first place for brand identity materials at the Business Marketing Association’s Ace Awards in New York. The awards recognize top creative campaigns.
Pacific Symphony tuba player Jim Self received the International Tuba Euphonium Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award. Self has 10 studio albums and has been heard on more than 1,400 movie soundtracks for composers such as James Horner and James Newton Howard.
Amy Mattern re-ceived the Spirit of Volunteerism Award from the Volunteer Center of Orange County and the Orange County Register. Mattern is coordinator of the Volunteer & Service Center at California State University, Fullerton, and was chosen because of her work fighting hunger and homelessness.
Santa Ana-based Specialized Marketing Services Inc. took home a Stevie Award from the American Business Awards and two awards from the Mailing & Fulfillment Service Association. Specialized Market-ing is a woman-owned, direct response marketing company.
Irvine-based architectural firm LPA Inc. won a Sustainable Design Award for work on the Marco Antonio Firebaugh High School in Lynwood. The award is given by the Concrete Masonry Association of California and Nevada.
Marian Bergeson was honored by the Orange County Transportation Authority board for her service on the California Transportation Commission, as her term ends this year. Bergeson was the first woman to serve in the California State Assembly and Senate.
David Chavez won an Industrial Design Excellence Award for his moving Braille timepiece. Chavez is based in Newport Beach. The awards competition is sponsored by BusinessWeek and the Industrial Designers Society of America.
The Tustin branch of Farmers & Merchants Bank was named rookie of the year by the Tustin Chamber of Commerce. The award recognizes a new business that has demonstrated commitment to business ethics.
Arts Orange County honored John Koshak, Greg MacGillivray and Phil and Mary Lyons for their dedication to the arts at this year’s Cultural Legacy Awards. Proceeds from the awards dinner help support the county’s artists.
Pence Wealth Management in Newport Beach was named one of the most dependable wealth managers of Southern California by Goldline Research in Forbes magazine.
Ocean Institute Chief Executive Dan Stetson was honored at the Cal State Fullerton Mihaylo College of Business and Economics’ Alumni at the Top celebration. Stetson has worked at the Ocean Institute for 16 years and oversees a staff of 100 employees. The institute is a nonprofit that works to preserve the ocean.
Wayne Foster was honored as the first recipient of the John A. Moran Eye Center Lifetime Achievement Award. Foster attended the New York Institute for the Blind and runs Wayne Foster Entertainment, which has an office in Irvine.
Financial Advisor Magazine named Signature Estate and Investment Advisors LLC one of the top registered investment advisory firms in the nation for the second consecutive year. The company has $1.4 billion under management and has an office in Irvine.
